iZombie: Heaven Just Got A Little Bit Smoother

After a way too long break, iZombie finally returns. I don’t generally do recaps, but this has been such a long gap, I’ll make a partial exception. Among the many surprising events at the end of last season were: Clive learned about zombies; the Max Rager party ended in a massive zombie outbreak; Liv had…

iZombie: Reflections of How Liv Used To Be

Liv and the rest of the iZombie cast are building up a lot of momentum as they get closer and closer to the season finale. Thankfully, all the CW shows that I watch have already gotten renewal announcements, this one included. That’s good because there are a lot of balls in the air and I don’t see how they could possibly wrap all this up in just a few episodes.

iZombie: Pour Some Sugar, Zombie

The amusing titles keep coming on iZombie. This week’s is “Pour Some Sugar, Zombie,” which I guess is a tip of the metaphorical hat to Def Leppard. The writers are continuing to have the secrets fall away one by one. Pretty soon, at least most of the cast is actually going to know what’s going on everywhere, which might be a nice change.

iZombie: He Blinded Me… With Science

Returning from a several week gap, like most of the CW hero-themed shows, iZombie comes back with “He Blinded Me… With Science.” Continuing from last episode, Blaine is riding a city bus definitely looking a lot worse for his recent adventures. He’s definitely a bad guy, but Blaine does get some of the best lines. I always enjoy his screen time.

iZombie: Eternal Sunshine of the Caffinated Mind

Ravi, Liv, and Major are in the morgue as this week’s show opens. A lot of the tainted Utopium they recovered is useless, but Ravi managed to salvage enough for a test dose. A somewhat disappointed Major watches as Ravi injects one of the rats. That’s probably safer than using Major for a test subject, however much Major might prefer it the other way.

iZombie: Physician Heal Thy Selfie

It’s almost getting hard to keep track of all the different mini-factions and secrets on iZombie. This week’s episode is Physician, Heal Thy Selfie, the latest in a series of great titles. I suspect there are going to be a lot of big reveals, surprises, and disappointments as they work towards the season finale.

iZombie: Fifty Shades of Grey Matter

It really says a lot about a genre show when the characterization and dialogue manages to consistently overwhelm the sci fi/fantasy aspects of it. The writing on iZombie has been pretty damn entertaining, managing to swing from funny to high action to borderline tragic with apparent ease. Add in some great dialogue and the show keeps impressing me.

iZombie: Method Head

Back from the winter hiatus, Liv Moore and her friends return for, “Method Head” this week’s episode of iZombie. They open on a down beat, as Ravi tells Major and Liv about Hope, his experimental rat. With no warning, the “cure” wore off, which is not at all what Major wants to hear. This is also when Ravi finds out that Liv and Major broke up last episode. Blaine, too, is equally thrilled when he hears about the temporariness of the cure.

iZombie: Cape Town

The iZombie mid-season finale is called “Cape Town,” another amusing title that works pretty well for the topic. In a very different beginning, a woman runs down an alley, pursued by two thugs. One grabs her purse, looking pleased. Then, suddenly, a masked and caped hero shows up and attacks them. Apparently, it didn’t go well, as the hero ends up in a trash truck the following day.

iZombie: The Hurt Stalker

They do manage to keep the clever titles coming in iZombie. This week’s is “The Hurt Stalker,” a nice twist from the movie The Hurt Locker. Between the episode titles and the little segment intros they do in comic book style, I do give the writers credit for a consistently high level of quality and creativity.
