Jessica Jones Episode 10: AKA 1,000 Cuts

“AKA 10,000 Cuts” is the tenth episode of Jessica Jones’ Netflix series, and it is one of the most tension-filled, violent, and hard on the cast shows they’ve done yet. A lot of things go badly here, and very little of it is Jessica’s fault, although I have no doubt she’ll blame herself. That’s what she does.

History of… the Huntress

Comic book characters rarely have simple histories, and Huntress has been through several reboots and at least two Earths. So her story is a bit complicated. This is my attempt to make some degree of sense of her twists and turns. This traces the variations of the Bat-family Huntress, not various other characters who have used the name.

Suicide Squad movie review

There are a lot of bad reviews out of Suicide Squad. In my humble opinion, they are wrong. I just saw it, and thought it was a lot of fun. It wasn’t as good as some top tier Marvel efforts (Winter Soldier, Civil War, Avengers) but it was a LOT better than some of DC’s recent efforts (Man of Steel, Green Lantern, Hex). I thought it was a fun action flick with a few Easter Eggs and respected the original source material.

Titans 1

With the introductory special out of the way, the new Titans book has begun for real. At Dick’s loft in Gotham, the team is getting used to the return of their forgotten friend, Wally West. Lilith tries to help him piece together some of his missing memories, but some of them are proving hard to reach, which likely isn’t good. Despite the fact that Dick is one of the best detectives on the planet, it’s Garth that comes up with an idea for their next lead.

A History of the Suicide Squad

With the movie coming out soon, I thought this was a good time to go over the history of DC’s team of rogues. They first appeared in 1959 in the Brave and the Bold anthology title, and have had a few different incarnations. This piece will go over the major eras, and some of the big players.

The Killing Joke: The Animated Movie

Warnings/disclaimers: The Killing Joke is not a typical Batman story. There are a lot of serious plot threads in this one and subject matter that might offend, insult, or be something of a trigger issue for people. You are warned. Proceed at your own risk.

Rebirth: Batgirl and the Birds of Prey 1

Birds of Prey is a long time favorite of mine. Chuck Dixon started the series, although it’s probably most associated with fan favorite Gail Simone. The Birds’ long history was wiped out when DC did their line-wide reboot, and the new book just wasn’t as good. I had every single appearance of the Birds until that point, and ended up dropping the “DCNU” version within three issues. But, the Birds are back, and the new book looks fantastic.

Justice League Trailer

Well Comic-Con has produced the usual almost overwhelming amount of news, hints, rumors and trailers. There’s a lot to look at, think on, and speculate about. Here, I’m looking at the Justice League trailer. There’s a lot in that almost two and a half minutes.
