CW TV Crossover: Dominators

With the big CW crossover coming up, there’s a new group of bad guys on the radar. The aliens the gathered heroes will be fighting are called Dominators, collectively known as the Dominion. They are one of DC Comics’ many alien races. In the comics they have yellow skin, pointed ears, vicious looking teeth and fingernails that look more like claws. They don’t have individual names, all serving the Dominion. Their place within their caste is marked by the size of the red dot on their forehead. The bigger the dot, the more important they are.

Legends of Tomorrow: Outlaw Country

This week, the Legends go to “Outlaw Country,” as they return to the Old West and meet up with Jonah Hex yet again. Their visit to see him last time was one of the highlights of season one. This time, things go a bit differently, after Martin Stein takes his turn again with the opening narration. I’d really like to hear Mick Rory’s version of it. He’d either change the words or say something like, “This is stupid,” halfway through and stop.

Legends of Tomorrow: Compromised

The Legends of Tomorrow continue their round-robin turns on the introductory voice-over. This week, it’s Jax’s turn as the team deals with “Compromises.” The opening scene starts off as Damian Darhk in what seems like it should be an old Miami Vice episode. However, as the DEA rolls up and tries to make a bust, Darhk gets help from a villain we’ve seen with him before: Reverse-Flash, although so far he’s mostly avoiding his costume. The two of them are feeling each other out about a partnership that bodes ill for every hero in the CW-verse.

Legends of Tomorrow: Abominations

Ok, I try to take my reviews at least a little seriously. Every once in a while I can’t. This is one of those times. If you really loved Legends of Tomorrow’s “Abominations” episode, you might want to skip this. Personally, I think this was the worst episode of the season, the series, and the entire CW-verse, including those really shaky early Arrow episodes.

Legends of Tomorrow: Shogun

The Legends take a detour to feudal Japan in the rather simply titled “Shogun.” They mingle an origin story, a new team member, and a few different elements of various classic styles of Japanese-themed movies. It doesn’t all make sense, but it’s fun to watch.

Legends of Tomorrow: The Justice Society of America

Legends of Tomorrow’s new voice-over intro is done by Sara, which makes sense given the events of the episode. At the end of last episode, the Legends met a version of the Justice Society of America (also the title of the episode), consisting of Commander Steel, Dr. Midnight, Hourman, Obsidian, Stargirl, and Vixen. I’ll offer my commentary on that line up in a separate section after the main review. Typical for a first meeting of heroes, they fight at first, and the Legends get their collective butts kicked. I’m not quite sure how Stargirl’s cosmic rod split Firestorm back into Stein and Jax, but that’s another issue.

Legends of Tomorrow: Out of Time

The Legends of Tomorrow are back with a new line up, new season, and the introductory voice-over by Martin Stein gives a brief rundown of the members. The season opens with the somewhat ominous title of “Out of Time,” which starts us off in a new status quo. A lot has happened since the last time we saw the team.

Legends of Tomorrow: Legendary

Legends of Tomorrow ends its first season with the appropriately titled “Legendary.” There were a lot of surprises, and I’ll do my best to keep the spoilers out of the review until the very end and I’ll mark them beforehand. But I will say the final reveal made the old-school DC Comics fan in me very happy.

Legends of Tomorrow: River of Time

“River of Time” is the next installment of Legends of Tomorrow, and the team is having more than their share of problems. They have captured Vandal Savage, and he’s on the ship, which is both good and bad. Rip has decided the best way to proceed is to bring Savage to the Time Council, which is probably not a good idea. And the team itself is fragmenting, several of them thinking that anywhere but Vanishing Point, home of the Time Masters, is a good destination.

Legends of Tomorrow: Leviathan

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow are forced into an increasingly desperate situation. They have run out of options, and are going up against Vandal Savage at the height of his power, just before he takes over the world and kills Rip Hunter’s wife and son. So the Waverider takes the team to London in 2166 just in time to fight the man who can’t die and conquers the world when he has an army behind him. Wouldn’t want it to be easy, right?
