After eight seasons, launching a universe of shows and a new era of superhero tv, and some truly amazing crossovers, the flagship show of the CW-verse/Arrowverse, has come to the end of the road. Oliver Queen sacrificed his life during the Crisis on Infinite Earths, and now it’s time to wrap up the loose ends.
The Resistance is seriously outgunned, but has the specialized help of Black Lighting and Thunder/Blackbird. Meanwhile, Lightning is focused to the point of obsession with her new self-appointed mission, and Lynn’s problems are becoming more obvious.
Supergirl and her merry band are trying to adapt to all the changes in the world since Crisis reset reality. Despite history being rewritten and various resurrections, the biggest complication might well be the return of Lex Luthor…
Last episode of Batwoman ended on a major surprise. Somehow, likely as a result of the Crisis, Beth surprised Kate in her office. It was unexpected to say the least, and Kate really doesn’t do surprises well. She shares that with the late Oliver Queen.
The Legends deal with shifting timelines all the time, so you’d think they’d be used to it and have some kind of safeguards in place. But, when their history changed near the end of last season, no one seems to have noticed.
After eight seasons, and I don’t think there’s a way to tell how many punches, kicks, arrows, and shattered windows, Arrow is almost over. The Crisis has come and gone, and the end is in sight.
Of all the hero shows, it seems the least changed in the new world. Crisis is referred to in the “previously on” recap, but that’s close to it, and there are no substantial changes noted. While I love the team up concept, I almost think they should have left “Earth BL” or whatever we’re calling that one off on its own.
The characters, and viewers, learn more about the new, post-Crisis world as more ripples and changes become apparent. Supergirl and her friends (and some enemies) are trying to navigate their new reality, and the differences range from confusing to sickening.
While it’s often simply an overused, hyperbolic phrase, in this case it’s true: after the Crisis, things will never be the same. The first stop for the shows’ various returns is Gotham City, where Batwoman’s episode has an interesting title: “How Queer Everything Is Today!”
Part four of the Crisis on Infinite Earths featured the death (again) of Oliver Queen and a huge battle with the Anti-Monitor. The world was saved, and it seemed like everything was wrapped up. So why is there a part five?
