Supergirl’s very uneven season continues as the various problems get worse for almost everyone. A major surprise gets dropped, someone goes through a change that I suspect is more serious than it looks, and another subplot ends as there’s an additional discovery about someone’s lies.
Last episode ended with the shocking death of Dorothy Walker, and Trish going to get her revenge on Salinger. Jessica, guided by both her own moral code and her love for Trish, stopped her sister from doing something she couldn’t come back from and got her out of there. Now, there will be repercussions, heightened tension, and a lot of trying to manage fallout.
Batwoman’s first season has been impressing me with the writing and storytelling. They’re still doing a great job with both individual episodes and longer-running subplots.
The first, and sadly only, season of Swamp Thing is almost over. I’ve really been enjoying this, and it’s a damn shame it only made the one season. I’d certainly rank it above Titans, whose third season has been announced.
Black Lightning’s third season has been a grim one so far, with the ASA infesting the streets of Freeland like a conquering army. There are times I’m starting to wonder if Agent Odell is either completely making up, or at least greatly exaggerating, the Markovian threat. If it wasn’t for the one scene with them…
They seem to enjoy playing with the opening title sequence on Watchmen, and they get a bit more creative with this one. The show title emerges through a gradually cracking shell, with the WATCHMEN logo much like a yellow egg yolk.
Supergirl’s season five has been the weakest so far with a lot of flaws and some really irksome characters. One of them, Andrea Rojas, has been a workplace adversary for Kara Danvers since she bought CatCo and upended the standards of excellence that place used to have.
The Titans’ second season is about at the halfway point, and there’s a lot left to do. They’ve done nothing effective against their big foe, Deathstroke, most of them haven’t even appeared in costume in the current era, and, even though they’re listed that way in the credits on IMDB this week, Raven and Beast Boy/Changeling (better name, always will be) haven’t taken their code names.
Batwoman’s sixth episode has several surprises where they diverge sharply from most other versions of Gotham City. There are also a few things that touch on some of the movies and even the recent “Gotham” tv series.
After two seasons of various superpowered foes, Jessica’s being put through the wringer by Gregory Salinger, a man with no powers, no conscience, but lots of smarts and cunning. Based loosely on the comic book villain Foolkiller, Salinger is matching wits with our hero and her allies, and at the very least coming to a draw so far.
