Heroes Reborn: The Lion’s Den

Heroes Reborn ends up in the “Lion’s Den” this week. Noah, Quentin, and Taylor are learning there’s a lot more going on at Renautas than they suspected, even worse than capturing and stealing powers from various Evos. They come up with a plan to try and get more information about what’s going on that requires more help from Taylor.

Daredevil: Speak of the Devil

Speak of the Devil is the ninth episode of Daredevil’s first season on Netflix. It jumps back and forth in time a bit, showing a lot of character and exposition scenes and then going to a really ugly fight as Daredevil battles a ninja in red. The ninja has a chain weapon and is apparently even better than our hero.

SHIELD: “A Wanted (Inhu)Man” review

One of the things I give Agents of SHIELD credit for is amusing episode titles. A lot of this week’s show is about Lincoln being on the run, so they call it, “A Wanted (Inhu)Man.” They throw in a lot of twists and turns and some interesting character choices and subplots. The opening shows Lincoln…

Heroes Reborn: The Needs of the Many

“The Needs of the Many,” is the title of this week’s episode of Heroes Reborn. The different stories are starting to come together. While most of the characters still haven’t met, a lot of them are at least now in the same rough area. Renautas is the focal point of the bad guys as far as we have seen, and that’s where many of the characters are converging.

Heroes Reborn episode 3 review: “Under The Mask”

“Under the Mask,” opens with Malina, an Evo we know little about. She’s in the Arctic, using her powers to do something or other that effects the Northern Lights. She’s apparently trying to hold off something bad, and it’s getting harder for her to do it. Malina is accompanied by some kind of odd guide. There’s a lot of implied menace in this scene, but we don’t really know what’s going on.

Agents of SHIELD: Laws of Nature

Agents of SHIELD comes back for its new season with “Laws of Nature,” and it kicks off with a bang. The Terrigen contamination we saw last season is making itself known, and people are randomly finding their dormant Inhuman gene jumped into action. What quickly becomes apparent is that SHIELD isn’t the only group interested in these newly powered people.

Heroes Reborn Two Hour Premier Special

I’ve been a fan of heroes, especially super-powered ones, for as long as I can remember. For whatever reason, the idea really resonates with me. So I was really excited when Heroes debuted back in 2006. I think the first season was absolutely amazing, with some brilliant ideas and executions. Even I will admit that it suffered badly when the writers’ strike screwed up season two, and it never quite recovered. But I still enjoyed it, even the less-good seasons. So I was excited when I heard it was coming back.

Daredevil ep 8: “The Boy Who Would Be King”

A hero is only as good as his villains, some say. In the Daredevil series, Wilson Fisk (Kingpin in the comics) has been a great contrast to Matt Murdock. Fisk isn’t moustache-twirlingly evil, doing bad things for the sake of being a bad guy. Fisk had a goal and a dream that he believes in, and he honestly thinks what he’s doing is for the greater good.

Daredevil: Stick

So how does a blind kid from New York City learn to fight like a ninja? It’s one of the questions that’s fair enough to wonder about Daredevil, and the episode “Stick,” goes into that in detail. Stick, as comic fans know, is the name of Daredevil’s enigmatic mentor who taught him the skills he’d need to become a masked hero.

Daredevil episode 6: Condemned

One of the things they do so well on Daredevil is the gradually widening scope. Matt has been continuing his crusade, but he’s really only come up against random street crime and the Russians. He has no idea what he’s truly up against, and that keeps working against him.
