Venom

I’ve never been a huge fan of Venom. I’m a big superhero fan, absolutely, but Venom started as a supervillain who later became, at best, an anti-hero. He/they also have a very complicated history that needs to be greatly simplified whenever it’s adapted, for cartoons or the recent movie.

Cloak and Dagger: Alignment Chart

Cloak and Dagger seems to be very fond of using one character’s talking to narrate the actions of several others. That comes up several times in this episode. It works as narrative device if it’s done well, and I have been continuously impressed by the writing on this series.

Cloak and Dagger: Rabbit Hold

In the months between seasons, Cloak and Dagger both practiced with their powers and gained some new ones. That’s been both complicating and enriching this season, with some cool new tricks from both characters, and a lot better control.

Cloak and Dagger: Shadow Selves

The narrative time jumping continues on Cloak and Dagger as we learn more about Mayhem. This is the surprise duplicate of Detective Bridget O’Reilly that we saw at the end of last season, but didn’t realize at the time.

Luke Cage: They Reminisce Over You

Luke Cage’s second season, and sadly the series, come to an end in “They Reminisce Over You.” I’ll talk more about the end later. I will say there were a lot of surprises and twists along the way, most of which I didn’t see coming. Since it’s both a season and series finale, there will be spoilers below.

The Gifted: oMens

What may be the final episode of The Gifted is a busy outing that ends dramatically, and makes me wonder if the possible cancellation was a surprise to the showrunners.

The Gifted: Monsters

The Gifted are closing in on the end of the season, and possibly the series, with “Monsters.” There is no confirmation of the show’s status either way, and the possibility of some kind of online/streaming transition has come up a few times. As I’ve said several times, this band of mutants just can’t seem to catch a break.
