Aquaman 15

Aquaman 15 Writer: Dan Abnett Artist: Philippe Briones and Wayne Fruckner Colorist: Gabe Eltab Letterer: Pat Brosseau Cover: Brad Walker, Andrew Hennessy, & Gabe Eltab Aquman’s been dealing with a nasty plot against himself and Atlantis for the last several issues. Black Manta has taken over NEMO (still hate the name) and launched a clever,…

Gotham: Ghosts

After the government agents came back last week, it’s time for the city workers. Gotham returns from winter break with “Ghosts,” continuing their “Mad City” season. I’m really not wild about shows naming their seasons or even halves, as Agents of SHIELD is presently doing, but maybe that’s just me. At any rate, things are…

Constantine Returns!

After far too long, there’s some good news for Constantine fans. Many of us, myself definitely included, loved the show on NBC, which only lasted one season. Now the CW had announced an animated series on their “Seed” online network, much like the already extant Vixen. Matt Ryan was great on Constantine. After the cancellation, he did a single episode guest shot on Arrow, and then voiced the character in the Justice League Dark animated movie.

Green Arrow #12 review

Green Arrow has been through a lot since Rebirth started. On the good side, he’s back with Black Canary, undoing one of the DCNU’s many unpopular moves in their war on relationships (yeah, I’m biased). On the bad, he’s lost his company, been framed or all sorts of crimes, nearly been killed several times, his sister turned on him, and his old and deadly enemy Shado turned up again. Oh, and media creep strikes again, and now he’s friends with a black man named Diggle who has a Special Forces background.

Legends of Tomorrow: The Chicago Way

Taking its turn in the winter finale line up, the Legends of Tomorrow are stuck dealing with things “The Chicago Way.” Vixen gets her turn at the opening voice-over. I still wonder how asking to be called Legends is better than being called a hero. As one of the characters commented during the big crossover, it sounds really egotistical to me.

Arrow: What We Leave Behind

Arrow gets their turn for a winter finale in “What We Leave Behind.” I found it to be an uneven episode. The main plot was really well done, very suspenseful, with some good scenes. The flashbacks have finally gotten to the joke people were telling when the show started, looping back now to the first year of Oliver’s career as the Hood/Starling City Vigilante. They also went way out of their way to beat the point into the ground about how the flashbacks connect to the present.

Flash: The Present

Flash returns from the big alien invasion/crossover for the winter finale episode, “The Present.” It’s a clever title, since this is their Christmas episode, where presents are sure to be found, and they’ve been dealing a lot with time travel, so it could also be the “this point in time” kind of present. They do…

Aquaman 12

Aquaman 12 Writer: Dan Abnett Artist: Philippe Briones Colorist: Gabe Eltaeb Letterer: Pat Brosseau Cover: Brad Walker, Andrew Hennessy, & Gabe Eltaeb The current run of Aquaman has focused a lot on the tensions between the surface world and Atlantis. Aquaman has been doing everything possible to keep peace between the two realms, even running…

A few words about Fox’s Lucifer

One of the few comic book-based shows I don’t review is Lucifer. I tend to only read superhero comics, so I’ve not read most of what it’s based on, and I only have so much time. But, I do watch the show, and I think it’s fantastic, so I thought I’d give it a few words here while it’s on winter/mid-season break.

DC Comics New Talent Showcase

DC Comics has issued their newest “New Talent Showcase.” Since it’s a series of different short stories, I’m going to change my normal review format a bit. As with any collection, it varied a bit, but overall impressed me.
