And so we’ve come to the end of the epic Death of Superman story arc! Part 7, which was published in 1993 as Superman #75 , is basically a money shot heaven for comic book fans hungering after splash page after splash page. This completes that whole “counting down” to Superman’s death with each of these final parts having one fewer panel per page than the one before. This also makes covering the blow-by-blow dissection of this issue very easy for me. So, without further delay, let’s get ready to RUMBLE!!!!!!!!

Where we last left off, Superman was chasing after Doomsday after the monster destroyed the home of teenage jerk Mitch and his mother. With the Justice League down, Mitch cried out to Superman to come back and save him and his family from the fiery rubble of their home. Superman is caught between a rock and a hard place – stop Doomsday or save the family that were innocent bystanders of Doomsday’s rampage.

Hello and welcome to Comic Book Classics Revisited! We’re starting a new cycle today and this time, I decided to take a look back at The Death of Superman. Oh, I can already hear your groans as I type this. “Why waste time on a gimmick story?” you might ask. Or, you might say, “The story is so overblown and overhyped and overrated. You’re going to defend it?” Yes. Yes I am! But I’ll get more into this after we go through the first part of this monumental storyline – Superman: The Man of Steel #18!
