The endearing oddness that is the Legends of Tomorrow can take damn near anything and make it into absurdist comedy. You wouldn’t think there’s a lot of laughs to be had in looking at the Cuban Missile Crisis, considering how close the world came to nuclear annihilation.
The Legends of Tomorrow are settling in to their new status quo for the season, hunting aliens that have been scattered in time while searching for their missing leader, Sara Lance. There are some issues to be worked out with the newest recruit, Spooner, and the usual problem of balancing characters with actual powers with talented (and less talented) normals.
The Legends deal with shifting timelines all the time, so you’d think they’d be used to it and have some kind of safeguards in place. But, when their history changed near the end of last season, no one seems to have noticed.
Part four of the Crisis on Infinite Earths featured the death (again) of Oliver Queen and a huge battle with the Anti-Monitor. The world was saved, and it seemed like everything was wrapped up. So why is there a part five?
The Crisis on Infinite Earths continues on Batwoman. The first part had several cameos and a lot of surprises, as the extent of the high stakes was driven home by so many deaths. The special after-show, ala Talking Dead for Walking Dead, confirmed that all those worlds we saw in quick glimpses were destroyed, so the body count is already immensely high.
The Legends veer back and forth between serious and their usual comedic slapstick as they bounce around 1973 Florida.
