Star Wars #6

The heroes are scattered on their various missions, and none of them are doing wonderfully well. Luke is on Tatooine seeking clues to further his Jedi training. What he does manage to find is Boba Fett, hired to track down the pilot that blew up the Death Star. Those two have a very impressive fight, and both are surprised.

Legenderry Red Sonja #4

Red has not been having an easy adventure in this series and this is no exception. Last issue’s cliffhanger is an ugly one, and she has a serious fight on her hands. She gets some help from an unexpected ally. The ally is a bit of a surprise, but it was subtly set up last issue.

AwesomeconDC 2015

It’s a really interesting experience watching a con grow. I’ve been lucky enough to go to AwesomeConDC for all three years it’s been running so far. DC is a major city that didn’t have a con until recently (relatively), and it’s very nice to see that remedied. In three short years, AwesomeCon has grown quickly and achieved some impressive things.

Moon Knight #15 review

The problem with being the servant of a god is that the mortal perspective and the god’s don’t necessarily match up. Khonshu has been a big part of this title, a lot more than the faint presence that could be argued away in past books. Last issue, Spector even referred to himself as a priest. Now, he sees that his understanding of Khonshu is nowhere near as complete as he hoped.

Legenderry: Vampirella #4 review

After the attack on her club last issue, Vampy needs to pick up the pieces and figure out where her enemies are coming from. She also has a lot of questions about her mysterious ally, Rassendyll. She doesn’t get all the answers she wants, but the two of them do get a lot more intimate with each other.

Legenderry: Green Hornet #4 review

Now that they finally have shared the stories and realized they are on the same side, the Green and Brass Hornets, and their faithful sidekicks, have to fight their way across the city to stop the Veiled Lady from unleashing Hell on Earth, or at least a reasonable substitute. There are some amusing moments as Kato admires, and covets, the Brass Hornet’s array of tech and toys. Unfortunately, as part of the earlier plan, the Brass Hornet put out a large bounty on the Green one and most of the gangs in the city are trying to collect.

Star Wars #5 review

After the raid on Cymoon, the heroes have split up. Leia is continuing to push ahead with missions for the Rebels, and has found a good way to persuade (or coerce, depending on your point of view) Han to help her. He’s about as happy as you’d expect in that situation. His annoyance might be part of why he’s off his game, and things don’t go spectacularly well for his and Leia’s mission.

Dresden Files: Downtown #4 review

As if the golem running amok in Chicago wasn’t enough of a problem for Harry and Molly, to say nothing of its master, now Marcone is getting involved. For a mortal with no powers or training, Marcone knows far too much and is far too clever for anyone’s good, especially Harry’s or his own. He also knows Harry, thanks to the Soulgaze in Storm Front, well enough to know that Harry will protect Marcone, no matter what Harry happens to think of him personally.

Thor #8 review

The new Thor has been accepted by most of the people in the Thunder God’s life. Unfortunately, one of the ones who hasn’t accepted her is Odin. Odin has sent the Destroyer, animated by Cul, Odin’s crazed brother, to kill Thor and retrieve Mjolnir. In response, Thor Odinson and Freya have gathered an army of female warriors, mostly people Thor suspected of being his replacement (Spider Woman, Captain Marvel, Scarlet Witch among them), to come and help the Goddess of Thunder. It’s a huge fight, and the array of power is staggering. Eventually, Freya’s arguments (and contempt) penetrate Odin’s thick head, and he orders Cul to withdraw.

Daredevil episode 6: Condemned

One of the things they do so well on Daredevil is the gradually widening scope. Matt has been continuing his crusade, but he’s really only come up against random street crime and the Russians. He has no idea what he’s truly up against, and that keeps working against him.
