Flash: Flash Back

Barry is taking the revelation about Jay being Zoom hard. He’s comparing it to his trusting Wells in the first season, and vowing not to make the same mistake again. Barry is working hard at trying to find a way to improve his speed so he’ll be able to beat Zoom when they meet next.

Flash: Trajectory

After a several week long break for no apparent reason, Flash returns with “Trajectory.” Before I get to the review, I’m going to take a moment to point out something that’s really getting annoying to me about a lot of current hero shows and movies. This is a mini-geek rant, so if you’re not interested, feel free to move on. Secret identities seem to be falling out of favor with most heroes, something I really don’t like, but that’s another issue. The ones that still have a secret generally have reasons for it. But over and over, we keep seeing so-called “masked” heroes in public with their masks off. If the hero wants to keep their secret, keep the mask on. If the actor playing them is so desperate to get their face on screen at all times, don’t sign on to play a hero who wears a mask. It’s a stupid trend no matter how you look at it, and it comes up several times this week. Ok, rant over. On to the review.

Flash: King Shark

“King Shark” picks up moments after “Escape from Earth 2″ ends. Caitlin, mute, in shock, stares at the Speed Cannon where Zoom just grabbed (and probably killed) Jay as the others stand around, horrified. Barry wants to go back and help, but Wells says they can’t. All the Breaches have been closed, so there’s no way back. Mind you, Wells tends to be the pessimist of the group, but, for the moment, he’s apparently right.

Flash: Escape From Earth 2

The team on Earth 2 is having problems. Fighting Zoom on his own ground is harder than they thought, and now they need to, “Escape from Earth 2.” Zoom himself is running around his version of Central City, leaving Wanted posters of Dr. Harrison Wells all over. Hewitt, Wells’ research assistant, is worried. Wells orders STAR Labs to be locked down and evacuated. Cisco manages to get back from Barry being captured. When Wells wonders why Cisco is still alive, Cisco comments, “He cares even less about me than you do.”

Flash: Welcome To Earth 2

Things get really weird when Flash finally visits Earth 2 in the appropriately named “Welcome to Earth 2.” They do a great job with turning things in unexpected directions with the dopplegangers of people we’ve seen a lot to some who haven’t been around in a while. I suspect the writers and casting directors had a lot of fun with this one. I know I did.

Flash: Fast Lane

Central City continues to get new metahuman criminals in “Fast Lane.” There are also several personal developments for the STAR Labs crew. They are making an interesting world that mostly reflects the rebooted “DCNU” comic book universe, but has some elements unique to the tv show as well.

Flash: The Reverse-Flash Returns

As if Barry doesn’t have enough problems to deal with, a foe he thought was gone forever pops up in “The Reverse-Flash Returns.” Flash speeds through the city, to a voice-over about reasons to run, especially ironic from a speedster. He checks in with Cisco, who tells him he’s handled everything in Central City already. Barry ignores Cisco’s suggestion to take a break. Wells and Cisco, meanwhile, get into a humorous bickering match over coffee.

Flash: Potential Energy

The Flash comes back from the hiatus with “Potential Energy,” a show that mixes some great special effects with a mild overdose of soap opera. It opens with Barry having nightmares about a date with Patty. They get an uninvited party crasher and things go downhill quickly.

Flash: Running to Stand Still

Flash’s mid-season finale arrives with “Running to Stand Still.” The opening is creepy. Wells is running through what I believe is the Earth 2 STAR Labs, taunted by Zoom. Wells gets to some very impressive looking gun, but really, guns don’t work too well with speedsters involved. Suffice to say there is more taunting.

Flash: Legends of Today

The CW shows kick off another crossover event, beginning on Flash with “Legends of Today.” Obviously, this is a lead-in to January’s Legends of Tomorrow show, and a lot happens. This one opens with a small montage of Barry training, trying to push his powers to new levels. Wells looks on disapprovingly, saying that Barry is nowhere near fast enough to fight Zoom. Caitlin tries to look for a new approach, but Wells is pessimistic. Barry agrees he needs to be faster, but also has no ideas, so he goes off to see Patty.
