By this point, the Titans might well be wishing they’d stayed in San Francisco. Jason died and came back as the villainous Red Hood, Hawk died, Dove left, and Rachel and Donna still haven’t shown up this season. Gotham is not a good place for anyone, really.
Last episode ended with a trapped and desperate Supergirl calling for help in a most unexpected direction.
They’ve been doing a good job showing Cindy Burman, AKA Shiv, putting together a team to challenge Stargirl’s fledgling Justice Society of America. Now, at least most of the pieces are in place and Cindy is making her move.
Supergirl’s final season has been remarkably uneven on many fronts. This particular episode has many of these problems all at once. There are a few good scenes, a few really bad ones, inconsistent internal logic, and characters using powers that don’t make sense, as well as forgetting powers and helpful coincidence.
The sixth season of Legends of Tomorrow is drawing to a close. There’s a serious membership shakeup, an important event, a big fight, and a big surprise at the end.
For a show that started off relatively bright and sunny, Stargirl has really developed a dark side. Eclipso is loose in Blue Valley, and that’s bad news for everyone. Now there’s creepiness in the shadows, unexpected allies and enemies, and a lot happening behind the scenes.
Supergirl’s final season continues with an odd mix of adventure, more social issues, and some character decisions. Brainiac 5 is still off returning Zor-El to Argo City, and Lena is off in search of her past, so it’s a slightly reduced cast this week. Making up for that, Kelly is back from her odd absence last week, when they actually needed her skill set.
Stargirl has its ups and downs over its run so far, but when they give themselves time, they do some good characterization work. We see some of that from a few unexpected directions this week.
The Legends of Tomorrow are usually a fun bunch with some weird adventures. I’ve heard about some of the changes coming up, and not liked any of them. Well, they’re making me less happy in how they’re getting there, as they make some questionable choices this episode.
After a long hiatus to let Superman and Lois run their initial (and excellent) run, Supergirl returns for the second half of her sixth and final season.
