Legends of Tomorrow: Camelot/3000 review

This week the Legends of Tomorrow bounce around the timeline pretty well in “Camelot/3000.” While the title describes their two destinations, it also refers to an obscure comic series from the 1980’s. In the maxiseries Camelot 3000, as the title suggests, Arthur and his Knights come back in the year 3000, in a mix of fantasy and sci fi. Nice job working that in, writers. The voiceover this week is done by Ray Palmer, who suffers in comparison to Heat Wave’s masterful job at the beginning of “Turncoat.”

Arrow: Spectre Of The Gun

One of the most divisive issues in America today, and for decades now, is gun control. Some people think all guns should be outlawed, others think anyone should be able to own anything without restriction, and there are others scattered along at all points of the spectrum in between. It’s a subject that’s next to…

Flash: Attack on Gorilla City

One of Flash’s enemies that can range from scary to silly depending on how he’s written is Gorilla Grodd. Some people can’t get past the idea of a “talking monkey” (yes, I know, he’s an ape, not a monkey). On the other hand, take a gorilla that’s stronger than human normally, make him stronger, tougher,…

Arrow: Bratva

Oliver’s past starts to catch up with him on a few levels in “Bratva.” He’s in his office, swamped by paperwork, with Thea once again out of town. I’m starting to wonder if Willa Holland quit the show and they’re keeping it quiet. Oliver’s flirting with his girlfriend, reporter Susan Williams, gets interrupted when…

Flash: Untouchable

The writers dug deep into Flash’s past for the villain in “Untouchable.” Not only does he not have a codename anywhere I could find, he doesn’t even have a costume. It’s a decent episode, but they make a few weird choices along the way. We’ll get to that as we go. It opens up with…

Supergirl: The Martian Chronicles

The writers on Supergirl steal a title from a Ray Bradbury scientific classic with “The Martian Chronicles.” I sort of wonder if they had to pay to use that. The majority of the show revolves around Megan/Miss Martian and Hank/Martian Manhunter. They really do like playing up the alien aspect of this show. The opening…

Legends of Tomorrow: Turncoat

I’ve been commenting on the Legends of Tomorrow taking turns doing the introductory voiceover. Well, they outdid themselves this week. Mick Rory, Heat Wave, gives his own unique spin on the story of the Legends. Let’s just say he’s not impressed. Heroes can be defined by their villains, and the clashes between them make for…

Arrow: Second Chances

In “Second Chances,” Arrow and his team go out in search of someone to be the new Black Canary. The new candidate turns out to be a cop called Tina, who gets caught while undercover. All this happens on a very important night in Central City three years ago, and as the hostage drama plays…

Legends of Tomorrow: Legion of Doom

I like that on the opening of Legends of Tomorrow, they’ve been moving around who does the introductory voice-over. That makes sense with a team show. What really entertained me with this one is they had Damian Darhk do it. He’s not only one of the bad guys, but actor Neal McDonough’s delivery is…

Flash: Dead or Alive

HR Wells takes over the introductory narration for Flash’s “Dead or Alive.” That kind of makes sense, since a lot of the episode is about him. As the intro goes on, we gradually see that the voiceover is actually part of one of Wells’ books that we’ve heard about before. He’s also taking Flash’s place…
