Legenderry: Red Sonja #2

Last issue ended with a few surprises. The nearly indestructible foes Red has been fighting come from the same source as her new ally. Here’s a clue, her new partner in adventuring is the Bride of Frankenstein. The Bride fits in nicely in the steampunk world. Frankenstein does, too, for that matter.

Dresden Files: Downtown #2

Dresden is taking time out from the Red Court Vampire war to help Murphy with a really strange case. Harry is at a very rare loss for explanation as to what the creature is behind this ugly death. He brings Bob along to check out the scene. The Harry/Bob scenes are always entertaining. Harry doesn’t know what’s going on, and makes another of those dangerous deals with Bob to get more information. Bob brings Harry to an unexpected source of information.

Legenederry: Green Hornet

Green Hornet is the third of three characters to get their own spinoff after the Legenderry series. The steampunk variations work really well for some characters, and the look is great for Hornet and his gadgets. As far as I can tell, there are only cosmetic differences for Kato, but the Black Beauty as an armed airship is a nice twist.

Dresden Files: Down Town #1

Jim Butcher’s Dresden Files has been a series I’ve enjoyed for a long time now. Dynamite has done a few limited series in that world, written by Butcher himself, and I’m finding them good additions to the Dresden-verse. This month, a new one starts.

Legenderry: Red Sonja

Dynamite is continuing to follow up on the success of their Legenderry series with a few spin- offs. Last week was Vampirella, and now it’s Red Sonja’s turn. She’s a sort of swashbuckling pirate/adventurer in this version, and the re-imagining works. Sonja barely gets to The Big City (really, that’s what it’s called) before getting embroiled in a new adventure. A scientist is being hunted by a mysterious group, and the hunters are not exactly normal.

Legenderry: Vampirella 1

Last year, Dynamite Comics did a fun little limited series called Legenderry. Dynamite is possibly best known for their licensed properties, and they brought many of them together in a steampunk setting. Among the characters were Red Sonja, Phantom, Zorro, Green Hornet, the Six Million Dollar Man, Flash Gordon and Vampirella.
