The show started off focusing on six young heroes, but those days are long gone. Now, there are so many characters that we spend this episode with two different teams and still don’t get to see even close to everyone. Or even most.
Some things even superheroes are powerless to stop. In this case, the coronavirus has brought season six to an early end. “Success is Assured” is episode 19 out of what was supposed to be 22, but they couldn’t finish filming. This has changed the pace of the impromptu finale, the nature of the cliffhanger, and…
Last episode, Icicle, was amazing, hitting a great mix of comedy, action, tragedy, and introducing a villain who is actually menacing. Sadly, I think they hit a bump in the road with “Wildcat,” the next episode.
Events have been building to a head since the Crisis rolled through and changed the world and people’s memories. Lex is nearly unassailable, Leviathan has tentacles everywhere, and Brainy convinced himself to work for one of the nastiest villains on the planet.
In a really big departure, Harley and her best friend Ivy are completely absent from this episode as we focus mostly on Batman, and a bit on the hapless Commissioner Gordon, as well as Batgirl and another new hero.
Things have been getting more and more complicated, especially last episode, where it was hard to keep track of who was lying to who. Batwoman was betrayed a few times over, losing the journal of Lucius Fox which has become a serious McGuffin.
The newest DC/CW show, Stargirl, has been a lot of fun. While there’s absolutely a darkness in the backstory, most of the present has been fairly light and entertaining. That’s absolutely not the case anymore. The leader of the villains returns to Blue Valley, and things aren’t going to be the same, in all sorts…
Last episode, the Legends finally gathered all the pieces of the Loom of Fate. Mission accomplished, right? Well, nothing’s ever that easy. Not only do they not really know how to use it, there’s some disagreement about what to try first.
Last episode ended a nasty mission in Markovia, with assorted origins, bad guys being overthrown, and hints at vast conspiracies. Now the heroes have made it out, so everything’s good, right?
