After the mid-season break, Young Justice goes on with their story. They have a lot of moving parts, and the settings range from a few familiar places on Earth to distant planets and space stations. The conspiracy against Earth’s metahumans, aided by villains and alien gods, gets deeper and more complicated, and they even work in a really obscure DC Character, as we see the spread of the bad guys’ “Influence.”
Now, we start to see much stronger ties to the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe. “We Interrupt This Program” is aptly titled, as we see little of our titular heroes, and a great deal more of various supporting characters from throughout the MCU.
A lot of the time, the titles of Doom Patrol are a stretch, or just don’t make a lot of sense. That’s not the case with this one. “Dad Patrol” does have a recurring theme of fatherhood, although, since it’s this crew of odd characters, none of them exactly distinguish themselves.
Now, with our new status quo, we have Ryan Wilder as a very unlikely Batwoman, and Kate’s former allies (and enemies) are trying to adjust to the changed circumstances.
After an enjoyable seven seasons, it’s time to say goodbye to some old friends.
The beginning of Marvel’s Phase Four continues with the ongoing adventures of a mutant witch and her synthezoid husband who may or may not be some kind of ghost. The end of last episode moved us out of the black and white era in another time jump, and into the 70’s version of sitcoms, ala Brady Bunch or The Partridge Family.
Harley’s second season is almost over, and things come to a head on many fronts. There’s the army of Parademons, the returned Justice League, a looming wedding, and the unresolved issues between Harley and Ivy.
We all got a major surprise at the end of season one of Batwoman.
The animated opening, very much in the style of both Bewitched and I Dream of Jeanie, is crammed full of interesting little Easter Eggs.
The superhero genre is so wide you can tell almost any kind of story in it, and they take full advantage of that here. The various hints at more going on promise some interesting developments down the road.
