After crossing paths several times, Vampy and man of mystery Rassendyll share a drink on top of the Scarlet Club, flirting and exchanging information. She optimistically says she thinks she can go a day without anyone trying to kill her, which is, of course, a cue for the bad guys. They don’t instantly attack, points there. But Dr. Moreau and company are siccing a new enemy on our heroine- Professor Van Helsing and company.
I don’t know enough about Vampy’s past to know why she’s so different from other vampires, but she certainly is. Many of Van Helsing’s stock in trade weapons don’t work. The reactions as she drinks holy water like a shot are really entertaining. At the end, Vampirella is working on a way to strike back at her far too many enemies.
Plot: This is a fun adventure story. The inclusion of Van Helsing was a nice touch. I’ll give the plot a 3.5 out of 5.
Art: Cabrera is doing a good job on the art for this book. The fight scenes are especially good. I’ll give the art a 4 out of 5.
Positives: It’s an enjoyable adventure story. I liked Van Helsing being added. The fight between the monster hunters and Vampy and friends was a good mix of action and surprises. I’m curious to see what happens with Van Helsing next issue.
Negatives: Very few. In fact nothing really comes to mind. I’d like to get some more information on Rassendyll, but hopefully that’s coming.
