Moon Knight #12

The current run of Moon Knight has had a lot more to do with the god Khonshu who resurrected Marc Spector, than many past volumes.  I always sort of liked the uncertain approach, when you were never quite sure if Spector was given some kind of divine assistance, or if he was just both ferociously driven and possibly a bit crazy.

Well, he might be crazy at this point, but there’s no doubt Khonshu is out there.  In fact, the last few issues have been about Khonshu choosing a new avatar, leaving Spector behind.  This story is part mystical trial, part political thriller, and a bit of a heist job.  Khonshu makes a choice at the end of it, and it’s strongly implied there are big changes in Moon Knight’s future.

Plot: The plot was interesting.  Wood wove several different elements together nicely, and it was a unique tale.  I’ll give the plot a 4 out of 5.

Art: Some of this is very striking.  I don’t like how they are drawing Khonshu, but that’s a personal preference.  I’ll give the art a 3 out of 5.

Positives: The story about Khonshu choosing a new mortal agent seems to be over, and it wasn’t drawn out.  The resolution is decently done.

Negatives: It wasn’t a hugely impressive ending.  The cliffhanger from last time was pretty much literally resolved by deus ex machina.

I’ve always enjoyed Moon Knight, and this has been a very different and creative take on him.
