Doomsday is here! Comic Book Classics Revisited is taking a deeper look at the 1992 blockbuster event The Death of Superman. Up to this point, a monster stronger than the entire might of the Justice League (minus Superman who was on TV at the time) is rampaging through the countryside and heading toward Metropolis. Now, in Superman (vol. 2) #74, the man of steel himself has entered the fray to stop this beast. Let’s take a look, shall we?

This part takes place in Justice League America #69 as the heroes come to save those the monster Doomsday has put into peril and fight the creature in an attempt to stop it from causing more damage and harm… Unsuccessfully.

Hello and welcome to Comic Book Classics Revisited! We’re starting a new cycle today and this time, I decided to take a look back at The Death of Superman. Oh, I can already hear your groans as I type this. “Why waste time on a gimmick story?” you might ask. Or, you might say, “The story is so overblown and overhyped and overrated. You’re going to defend it?” Yes. Yes I am! But I’ll get more into this after we go through the first part of this monumental storyline – Superman: The Man of Steel #18!
