Later in the year, Marvel debuts it’s second movie with a female lead as we learn more (posthumously, sort of) about the Avenger Black Widow. DC will release a sequel to its smash hit Wonder Woman, with more adventures of the Amazonian Princess. But before we get to those, there’s a mixture of heroes and villains in Gotham City with Birds of Prey. Or Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey. Or Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn.
After eight seasons, launching a universe of shows and a new era of superhero tv, and some truly amazing crossovers, the flagship show of the CW-verse/Arrowverse, has come to the end of the road. Oliver Queen sacrificed his life during the Crisis on Infinite Earths, and now it’s time to wrap up the loose ends.
With the movie coming out, a lot of people are interested in the Birds of Prey who might not be familiar with the original comic or characters. As is often the case, there’s a lot of difference between the movie and the comics. I’ll do my best to give a quick overview of both.
After eight seasons, and I don’t think there’s a way to tell how many punches, kicks, arrows, and shattered windows, Arrow is almost over. The Crisis has come and gone, and the end is in sight.
After a cruelly long month break, Arrow comes back with part four of the crossover. It’s also episode eight of the ten in the final season as the Emerald Archer says goodbye.
The final season is nearing its end, Oliver’s prophecied death is at hand, and the Crisis is just about to start. The show has had some ragged seasons, but this one has been great, and I’m really going to miss this show when it goes away.
Arrow continues their eighth and final season with a goodbye tour of stories past. “Welcome to Hong Kong” is a nod to many events in season three, with more flash forwards of the now somewhat less dark future of Star City.
Arrow is the flagship of the DC/CW Universe, and arguably helped usher in the modern age of hero tv. The finale of season seven has a very busy time, trying to wrap up major plots in the present and future, set up for the big crossover down the road, and almost end the series, since it comes back for a very short run this fall.
Last episode, the team decided to cover up two murders and commit obstruction of justice, but they’re the good guys. Or the less bad ones at this point, I guess.
Arrow has had a very uneven season. Diaz was still lurking around for far too long, there was the new Suicide Squad Ghost Protocol Initiative, and various conflicts with Dinah and Laurel, and the “Who Is The New Green Arrow?” plot.
