Supergirl: Dangerous Liaisons
The overall bad season of Supergirl gets a bit better with the fifth episode. There are conspiracies inside conspiracies, new villains, and troubling developments.

Laurie Blake, the second Silk Spectre, has gone through a lot of changes since the events of the Watchmen graphic novel (or movie if you prefer). She’s the central figure of this episode, played by Jean Smart. Smart was recently seen in Fox’s incredibly odd Legion show, so she joins the ever-growing list of actors who have played characters for both Marvel and DC.
Batwoman has had an interesting, and, in my opinion, well-written first few episodes. I like that they’re spending so much time on the central story of Alice/Beth and all the ripples from that fateful car crash.
Frank’s very good at what he does, but this is a lot coming at him at once. The various factions are most definitely on a “Collision Course.”
Arrow continues its eighth and final season/farewell tour as we get to visit more things from the past. The show is impressively managing to move the story forward while giving curtain calls to elements we’ve seen before.
Last episode, “Deathstroke,” ended with Jason Todd possibly falling to his doom. Suspense is a good story-telling technique, and the folks working for the DC Universe shows know this. So, instead of resolving this almost literal cliffhanger, “Conner” focuses on Superboy.
So far, much of Flash’s sixth season has revolved around the coming Crisis on Infinite Earths. The Monitor has said the Flash must die to save millions, if not more, and Barry’s own investigations seem to support this. Being a hero, accepting his fate to save others, Barry is willing to face his predicted death.…
After a few false leads and red herrings, it seems the season’s big bad has been revealed as Gregory Sallinger, a man with no powers but some very disturbing hobbies. In some ways, he may be one of the more dangerous foes Jessica has faced, especially with all the “help” she can stand from Trish.
The ASA continues their stranglehold on Freeland, and the strain is showing in many places. Odell is a duplicitous pain in the ass, but he’s very good at it, and the Pierce family seems to his major target at the moment. It’s painful to see some of what spills out of all this, and a former foe of Jefferson’s is back and actually attempting to be heroic.
The darkness is gathering around Marias, and the new champion is still trying to figure out what he can do. Last time, there were some surprising revelations, and a few of the ones that had been presented as good guys seem a lot more questionable now.
