Between the show being a mid-season slot and all the COVID issues, it’s been a year since we saw the Legends of Tomorrow. The last thing we saw was the defeat of the Fates, a big celebration after, and then Sara unexpectedly kidnapped by aliens without the others seeing.
This final season of Supergirl has, to be kind, not been their best. I’ve seen a lot of odd things, inexplicable decisions, and generally questionable writing. I’m not sure exactly what it says that they put out a much better episode that had most of the cast, including their main character, either absent or in a greatly reduced role.
…every show has ups and downs, and “The Book of Ruin: Chapter Four: Lyding” was definitely on the down side. There were a lot of flaws in the episode, and I have to admit I was generally disappointed.
The holidays are coming as the Young Justice crew deals with assorted problems in various locations. We see domestic developments in Star City, problems with the new meta-kids in Taos, and an unexpected attack with some great misdirection.
I have to admit, I’ve found the Supergirl series to be uneven as it’s gone on. They’ve had some great ideas, some poor execution, and a few great moments. I will be forever grateful to the show for introducing the Tyler Hoechlin version of Superman, which is the best take on the character I’ve seen in years.
After a side trip for a backdoor pilot for a potential spin-off series, Black Lightning continues with what is unfortunately the final season. Tobias Whale is pulling out all the stops in his bid for power in Freeland and his war against Jefferson Pierce.
Well into season two, Batwoman is starting to more actively clash with the False Face society and their leader, Black Mask. With the chaos of Safiyah out of the way for now, as far as we can tell anyway, Team Bat can focus on troubles closer to hand.
Supergirl’s sixth and final season is off to an odd start. The Girl of Steel herself has been exiled to the Phantom Zone, so she’s away from all her friends and allies, which is an odd choice for the show winding down.
Life probably hasn’t been normal for Barry since he was a kid, and less so since he got his powers. Lately, it’s been even stranger, as the team clashed with Mirror Monarch and dealt with the aftermath.
episode seven of the season was a “back door pilot” for the potential series, which they called “Painkiller.” It has a good bit of potential.
