The Arrowverse is still trying to sort out the various effects of the COVID pandemic on their production schedules. With delays slowing down Superman and Lois, Supergirl returns to take their time slot for that show’s final season. Last season ended on a different cliffhanger than was intended, as the season lost three episodes out of their original schedule.
For reasons I’m sure make sense to network executives, and maybe are tied to COIVD issues/delays, after this episode, Clark gives his timeslot to his cousin as the final season of Supergirl airs in this space until May.
Harley is good at a lot of things, and avoiding dealing with her feelings is way up on that list. She led an invasion of Earth, or least Gotham, to not think about her and Ivy kissing, and now she’s throwing herself into a new distraction.
One of DC Comics’ oldest villains is Vandal Savage, and I use oldest in several senses of the word. The character first appeared in 1943, during the Golden Age of Comics, when superheroes and villains were just getting started.
The Covid-shortened season of Supergirl comes to an end with episode 19 out of what was supposed to be 22. Like Flash and Batwoman, they were forced to end production early (although unlike those shows, the whole cast is coming back as far as we know), and improvise a finale out of what they had.
Events have been building to a head since the Crisis rolled through and changed the world and people’s memories. Lex is nearly unassailable, Leviathan has tentacles everywhere, and Brainy convinced himself to work for one of the nastiest villains on the planet.
this episode shows us events from Lex’s point of view as he adjusted to the new Earth, and then started multiple plans spinning.
There have been a lot of developments this season, as Obsidian Tech prepares a whole new (virtual) world, Lena remains convinced she knows what’s best for everyone whether they agree, or even know, or not, Lex runs the DEO, and everyone else tries to adapt to the various changes wrought by Crisis.
Last episode featured the return of Winn Schott (twice), more scheming by Lex and Lena, and a set up for this second part of the story. Everyone is still settling in to the new world and their place in it, and there are various hiccups to deal with.
Supergirl and her merry band are trying to adapt to all the changes in the world since Crisis reset reality. Despite history being rewritten and various resurrections, the biggest complication might well be the return of Lex Luthor…
