I am going to talk about a comic book series that completely weird. A series that made me stop after finishing an issue, stare at the wall, and say “yepp… what did I just read?” The comic is Saga, written by Brian K. Vaughan and published by Image Comics. First of all, let me say…
Oh man, this one is… damn, this just hits different, you know? The Lost Years is one of those. It’s not like the big, flashy Spider-Man fights or city-destroying villains. As Superman prepares to soar back into theaters, we’re seeing more scenes with some of the supporting characters. Since most of them aren’t the best known, it seemed like a good time to go over who some of them are.
While it’s not a show without flaws, Gotham Knights has taken an original approach. They’ve drawn in different elements from a lot of different versions of the Bat-mythos, and made the interesting choice of opening the series with Batman’s death. They weave in a few other interesting bits with this episode, “A Chill in Gotham.”
Young Justice has been a great show with a very interesting take on the DC Universe. They are great at making some changes but managing to respect the original characters and concepts.
I think at least some of what we’re seeing is what Rachel wished had happened to her when her strange heritage began manifesting. The supernatural turn continues with “Super Super-Mart.” Which I guess is this world’s version of Walmart, more or less.
While I really wish the show wasn’t going, “The Reckoning” went out on a really good note. Since this is a finale that come out some time ago, there will be spoilers in this review.
This episode also is the live action debut of the titular villain Jinx, a member of Titans’ enemies, the Fearsome Five.
