“Closure” has a few surprises for the Agents of SHIELD. Some are early enough that I’m trying to figure out how to do this without spoilers. There’s enough going on that it could have been the mid-season finale, but that apparently is next week. It’s certainly an action-packed episode.
Jessica Jones is the next Netflix Marvel series. Her comic was called Alias, as is her small PI firm. Playing on the word Alias, each episode title starts with AKA, as in Also Known As, a term sometimes used for alias. I’m generally not wild about cute naming conventions for show titles. I get what they did here, but I’m not sure I see the need for the name trick.
“Many Heads, One Tale” is an eventful episode for the Agents of SHIELD, current and former. Ward, continuing his revamp Hydra/destroy SHIELD crusade, has a meeting with Gideon Malick.
After dealing with their own various stories, the heroes reunite for some serious chaos on Nal Hutta. After dealing with the bounty hunter Dengar, Han, Chewie, Leia, Threepio, and the ever-annoying Sana all link up to try and find Luke. The young would-be Jedi is a prisoner of Grakkus the Hutt, and is supposed to fight to the death in the arena. Grakkus’ collection of all things Jedi has brought him more attention than he wanted, and another group is crashing the party.
Hopefully, you’re enjoying Jessica Jones on Netflix as much as we are! Here’s a quick “Who’s Who” on Marvel’s latest foray into television.
Season one of Daredevil ends with an episode named for the main character. “Daredevil” wraps up a lot of loose ends, and gives the cast of characters some measure of hope. From the beginning, Daredevil was supposed to return in “The Defenders,” and has also been confirmed for a second season with more Marvel characters appearing in it.
“The Ones We Leave Behind,” is a very tension-filled penultimate episode for Daredevil’s first season. There are a lot of developments and surprises that I did not see coming. As the rest of the series has been, it’s a wonderfully-well written, brutal instalment of the story.
Things are getting ugly for the Agents of SHIELD in “Chaos Theory.” The show opens with a scene from about six months ago, with May and Andrew in Tahiti, a magical place… err, Hawaii. They seem happy, and talk about new beginnings. You just know that’s not going to last, especially given what we learned last week. They do show Andrew’s secret origin, for lack of a better term.
Daredevil’s journey continues in, “The Path of the Righteous.” Following the incident at the party, Fisk has rushed Vanessa to the hospital, and is stuck doing one of the things he’s horrible at- waiting. There is an amusing scene of a nurse putting Fisk in his place at the ER.
The Daredevil story took a very unexpected twist at the end of episode nine. The tenth part has the somewhat ominous title of, “Nelson v. Murdock.” Foggy is very upset after learning Matt’s secret, and questions everything about their friendship. I think Elden Henson has been doing a great job as Foggy all along, but he really shines in these scenes with Matt.
