As we all know, there’ll be a new MCU movie for the rest of our lives UNTIL WE’RE DEAD… or the series becomes unprofitable. But for now, Marvel Studios has been consistently pumping out entertaining movies entertaining movies for ten years and I’m still along for the ride.
And so here we are with Ant-Man and the Wasp, which looks like the movie I wished they’d made in the first place – not that Ant-Man was bad, but as a Marvel Comics fan, I really wanted to see the Wasp, but if I haven’t learned not to go into these movies without expectations by now, I probably never will. Anyway, yeah, I like what I see here in this first trailer. If the DCEU is the “no fun allowed” series (although that seems to be changing), the MCU is “keep it light” central, and that tradition continues here.
But the thing I LOVE about this trailer? Yeah, I already knew the Wasp was going to be in this movie, so that’s fine to show her, but there’s little indication of the plot or who the villain is, and I LOVE THAT. I know film studios have all this data telling them that the more information they put in a trailer the more likely respondents say they are to see the movie, but I don’t feel that way. The final trailer for the first Ant-Man included most of the climax of the movie, which bugged the crap out of me.
I HATE THAT!
Anyway, at this point, I don’t know how “excited” I am to see any MCU movie, but I’m sure I’ll check this one out because I like the characters and the actors. The stories aren’t always great, but the MCU is fun, and I’m always down for a good time at the movies.
