Kill or be Killed continues in issue two with the tale of Dylan’s first kill. Because… the title of the book, ya’ll.
Dylan has made his choice: he could either not kill and die, or kill someone “who deserves it” and live. (He’s picked the latter, hence the cover.) Who he picks, how he gets the weapon and how he ultimately does the deed are, of course, perfectly sculpted by Ed Brubaker. And that doesn’t even cover the sub plot with Kira, the flashbacks… Sure, I’ve read noir books before, but the take here is as fresh as one of those silly old laundry commercials. Brubaker may be my favorite comic book author of all time.
Speaking of sculpted, the covers and interior are from this series are top-notch and compared to what I’m seeing from Marvel:
I won’t go on and on, just buy this book. It gets my highest recommendation. If you’re on a budget and need to drop a book to pick this up, DO IT.
I’m giving it a 9.5 out of 10 – like the first issue, it’s nearly perfect.
