It’s fun to speculate, but hopefully, this is more than speculation. After all, Latino-Review has a reputation for getting these things right.
I’ll get right to it: Latino Review says Spider-Man will make his Marvel movieverse debut in the third Avengers film, Avengers: Infinity Wars Part 1. This makes a ton of sense for both Sony and Marvel/Disney.
From Sony’s perspective, it’s clear they don’t know what they’re doing. They’ve made five Spider-Man movies, but let’s face it, I wouldn’t call any of them amazing. And Sony’s most recent offering (The Amazing Spider-Man 2) just didn’t meet the company’s expectations in terms of profits. So, the logical course of action is to let the two companies share the character – or rather, let Marvel do all the work while Sony collects a share of the profits. Since Spider-Man is one of Marvel’s most popular characters, it’s a no brainer for them to get him into their cinematic universe and Sony is better off letting someone else handle the artistic stuff because, frankly, they stink at it.
To me, this is the best popular scenario for us fan – I don’t think I can sit through another Sony superhero movie and we get to see Spidey with his Marvel buddies. Hopefully, this all comes to pass!
